Attendance Allowance

This benefit is a non-means tested benefit for people over state retirement age that need help with personal care. This is paid weekly at different rates depending on the level of care you need. It is a really good idea to seek the help of experienced local organisations such as Citizens Advice, Age UK, New Forest Disability Information Service when completing the application form.

Carer’s Allowance

This means-tested benefit is for people who regularly care for someone – they do not have to be related to or live with the person.

Council Tax Reductions

If you or someone living in your home is permanently disabled you may be able to reduce your Council Tax bill if you meet certain requirements.

Grants for disability adaptations

Grants to fund adaptations for people with a disability are available to owner-occupiers, tenants and landlords. The purpose is to assist with the costs of making a home suitable to meet the needs of a disabled person.
